Rowing is mostly in quads with access to double and single sculls. Members new to rowing will be offered an introductory course for beginners. Age is not a barrier at Phoenix RC and members range in age from their ’20s to 70’s. Year on year since its foundation, Phoenix RC has increased its membership and through its various activities has built relationships with rowing clubs across Ireland and in Europe. Club activities include participating in regattas, home and away, and tour rowing. Tour rowing is a significant aspect of Phoenix activity and our members have traveled extensively in Ireland and in Europe. We also engage in fundraising rowing activities for charity. Beginners complete an introductory coached programme before formally joining the Club. All members are also encouraged to participate in training sessions for coxing. Members pay an annual subscription fee and must also pay for coached sessions. Due to strong demand and limited coaching capacity, we currently operate a waiting list for new members. We row on weekday evenings (except Fridays) and weekend mornings only. By completing this form, you’ll be added to our list and we’ll contact you when a suitable space becomes available. Our members have traveled widely in Ireland and across Europe, rowing on beautiful rivers, lakes, and canals. Tour events are typically one to five days duration, with the typical distances covered each day being 25 to 30 km. In Ireland, Phoenix members have toured on the Rivers Shannon, Barrow, Nore, and also on Lough Erne. They have also traveled to France, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, and Portugal to row and socialise with groups of recreational rowers from across Europe. When new members feel sufficiently confident to go on tour, they are encouraged to begin with an Irish tour rowing event. Touring is a unique experience.
